Common MNVV misconceptions
Sailors often hear about My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) but don’t always understand how it really works. Here are the most common misconceptions — and the truth behind them.
β Misconception 1: “It’s just a discount voucher I can apply later.”
Truth: An MNVV is not a voucher. It’s a placeholder booking with its own booking number. Think of it as a “shell booking” that you later convert into a real sailing. Once you decide on your dates and ship, that shell becomes your next Virgin Voyage.
β Misconception 2: “I can use MNVV to reduce the cost of a booking I already made.”
Truth: You can’t retroactively apply an MNVV to an existing confirmed booking. It only applies to future sailings booked after you’ve purchased it onboard. That’s why timing is key — don’t wait until you’ve left the ship to decide.
β Misconception 3: “It expires quickly, so I might not get to use it.”
Truth: MNVVs are valid for two full years from the date you buy them. You don’t need to choose your sailing right away — you’ve got plenty of time to plan your next adventure.
β Misconception 4: “I’ll lose my deposit if I change my mind.”
Truth: You’ve got a 7-day cooling-off window after buying MNVV to get a full refund. After that, the $150 deposit turns into a Future Voyage Credit valid for a year, so you don’t lose it.
β Misconception 5: “It’s complicated to manage.”
Truth: On your own, maybe. But with Red Wave Travel as your First Mate, it’s simple. We’ll track your MNVV, remind you before it expires, and help you stack it with promos and perks so you get maximum value.
